L-phenylalanine is an essential amino acid which is converted in the liver into L-tyrosine. L-tyrosine in turn is converted in the brain and the adrenal glands into L-DOPA, which is further converted into the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine (adrenaline), hormones which are depleted by stress, overwork and certain medications. Replenishing norepinephrine in the brain enhances mental energy levels, frequently giving rise to feelings of contentment. D,L-Phenylalanine can thus reduce stress levels.
Conversion from L-tyrosine to norepephrine may be boosted if the co-factors (vitamins B6 and C) are included.
Cells in the adrenal medulla, the innermost part of the adrenal gland, synthesise and secrete epinephrine and norepinephrine. Since both these hormones can cause smooth muscle, including vascular smooth muscle in the veins and arteries, to contract, blood pressure should be carefully monitored when taking L-phenylaline capsules.
D, L-Phenylalanine capsules are a 50/50 mixture of D-phenylaline and L-phenylaline.
D, L-Phenylalanine side effects may include anxiety, high blood pressure and headache. D,L-Phenylalanine should not be taken if you suffer from phenylketonuria. Neither phenylalanine nor tyrosine should be taken if you have cancer or muscular dystrophy. Because phenylalanine can raise blood pressure, if you suffer from hypertension (raised blood pressure), you should consult your doctor before supplementing with D, L-Phenylalanine. Especially if taken shortly before bedtime, D, L-Phenylalanine can cause insomnia.
D, L-Phenylalanine capsules can be ordered online. Prompt delivery assured.
